Hey mega biz...nobody is perfect. Stan comes close, but he never listened to his own recordings because he was a perfectionist. From several reliable sources (former sidemen), it was generally accepted that, as formidable a player as he was, the only time he achieved perfection was when he was a perfect asshole. Others on this site who had actual dealings with Getz will confirm this. He was in a special Pantheon in this area: Miles, Buddy Rich, and Gerry Mulligan. Don't forget Benny Goodman.
