These are some of Dazzle's runs from the 2008 NADAC Championships held in Gillette Wyoming. For the special skills classes (weavers, touch n go, tunnelers, etc) the two rounds were combined into one long course even though they were scored separately. So in Dazzle's Weavers run she had an off-course in the "first" round and was clean the second round - but is was all combined into one run. Clear as mud? Below is a list of Dazzle's placements: 1st in round 2 Weavers 2nd in round 1 Touch N Go (I know, in the video it says round 2. Sorry!) 3rd in round 2 Hoopers 1st in round 1 Tunnelers 3rd in round 2 Tunnelers 6th in round 1 Team 2nd in round 3 Team Regular Rounds: 1st in Round 1 4th in Round 2 1st in Round 3 1st in Round 4 2nd in Round 5 2nd in the Finals 1st Overall She won her division with a little more than a 27 point lead. The scoring is time + faults so you can still do okay with a knocked bar or even off courses. We also got a couple special awards. Special awards are little trophys that people can sponsor. "Versatility" means all rounds during the championships combined. Dazzle got the following: Highest Scoring Versatility Junior Handler Highest Scoring Versatility Border Collie from Washington Highest Scoring Junior Handler in Tunnelers. We had a lot of fun at Champs this year and Dazzle far surpassed my wildest expectations. Considering the fact that I couldn't even run in June and wasn't allowed to do front crosses until late August - and on top of that we had limited practices - I was...well...impressed. Sometimes I swear Daz can read my mind.

This was great! You can tell Dazzle really loves doing agility, it seems like she smiles the whole time, and the woof when you released her was priceless! She is SO quick, Tonks is currently learning the basics & I can't wait to start agility in January. The picture with Dazzle and the trophy at the end (her mouth open) is wonderful too, it looks like she's giving an acceptance speech! Keep up the good work, you can see how much she loves you and all the training you've done together!

Yep! That clears it up. I thought the humans were also trying to run the courses but just weren't as good at it as the dogs. Dazzle is an amazing dog, in part because of a world class handler.

Katherine, thanks for posting such awesome video! I teared up while watching because I was so excited and happy for you guys. :) I'll see you both this weekend, Ali

When we run these courses it is the first time Dazzle has ever seen them. She never gets to walk through or practice first. The handlers all go out before hand and figure out where the course goes and then we run with our dogs. We tell the dog where to go with body signals and voice commands. Hopefully that made sense!

I didn't take the action shots. It very difficult to take photos of your own dog while you are running! Dazzle is almost 20" at the shoulder and just tipping the scales at 30#.

The addition of photos to the viedeo is a nice touch.

How does Dazzle know which way to go? Is it mental telepathy, or does he just remember from an initial walk-through?

Great action shots! Did you take those? Looking forward to more of Dazzle:)! I have been meaning to ask...how big is Dazzle? She doesn't look like she weighs a lot. Woofs n' Wags, Ashley & Kaine
