"I just knew I was not going to wait for him to do any further damage--I knew what I had to do." --Jeanne Assam Sgt. Jeff Johnson of the Colorado Springs Police Department reported that Matthew Murray of Englewood, CO, was carrying two handguns, an assault rifle, and 1,000 rounds of ammunition. Jeanne Assam was outgunned, but she didn't hesitate to emerge from cover and confront the gunman who had just fatally shot two young ladies at her church (and wounded their father). She reports that she felt God's presence, and she didn't shake. When Murray failed to respond, she ended the threat without hesitation. Fortunately, the New Life Church is not a "Gun-Free Zone" (like so many schools, post offices, or malls), or the bloodshed would no doubt have been far worse. And while she doesn't claim to be a heroine, I believe she is, God's help or not...after all, she could have acted like Jonah or Peter. I'm sure that her actions are little comfort for the friends and family of the victims who were already shot by the gunman, but we can be grateful there were no more added to the list. This clip is posted for discussion of this news event, but please use discretion in your comments. See http://www.9news.com/news/loca... for more information on the story, and the original video with her introduction by the pastor. Note that I had to cut off the initial few seconds of her own introductory remarks, to fit Youtube's limits.

Guns seems to be way too important. Any crazy today can shoot up the place. There was even a christian that shot up a church b/c that church was too lax. What a joke.

It was much better when it was a gun-toting, low-crime country. Unfortunately, liberalism has rotted the place from the inside.

Yes there is no safety in this gun toting, crime ridden country. Not in a church, school, work, or home.

Absolutely deplorable that a gunman would open fire on a Sunday morning in a church and endanger innocent worshippers. If he really wanted to avenge those who cause the real damage, he'd have been better off going after those who initiate the evil. Ex: showing up at a week night church board of elders meeting. That way, innocent women & kids would not have been endangered- and the ones who actually perpetuate offensive policies would have been left to deal with theie consequences.

All the power to you buddy. Jeanne was a follower of a cult-like David Koresk and those FLDS people in Texas. Let's face it, this church feel in love with a Charismatic pastor and decided he was the 2nd coming of Jesus. Jeanne was trained to kill anyone who thought otherwise. Cults suck - and New Life church got what it had coming from it. I'm thinking the shooter was probably a spurned loved of Teddy boy! What do you think?

don't overstate your case. This woman Jeanne Assam is not a lesbian, and the man that was doing the shooting was probably not gay. Don't pick out certain people because of sexual tendencies and think the rest have to suffer. It was a standoff fair and square. If you want this guy who was a gay pastor, wait him out he'll show up sooner or later. do what you want to do to him, but I'm still carrying.

If you are a Christian, why attend a church lead by a faggot? As I pointed out, if this was a real church, a shopping mall, park, they are justified to defend themselves. This church however, was run & headed by a faggot. That makes them much less in my eyes. I know you might feel differently, but if you run a large mega-church, become the head of all evangelicals in this country, perhaps you shouldn't be sticking your d*&k in some guys as*. Feel free to disagree!

I don't support gays, I don't support violence either when it comes to someone shooting up the place. But, if you are a chriistian you don't have to lay down and die at the hands of some madman. you, sir, just have a problem with people shooting back. I guess that's why so many criminals are buying armour, they're afraid they are going to get what's coming to em.

I think over our last 3 days of conversation we have lost track of the key topic. You obviously seem to have a thing for the 2nd admendment and personal liberaties. I am focuses on Fundie Chrisitans and how they operate is 'fishy'. Again if the head of a large Xtian church is gay...why support him? For the record, I actually support gay marriage!!!! :)
