The freedom of speech is limited to when it interferes with others rights. That's why you can't threaten people, slander, or yell "FIRE!" in a crowded building.

I didn't say that was a Constitutional right to business. I said there is no provision in the Constitution which calls for government intervention of the marketplace.
Don't try to saddle me with sloppy "facts." Keep trying, though.

Uh, excuse me. there is no consitutional right to business. That;s why you need a license - it's a privilege, not a right.
You fail.
BennyQuixote (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
And according to the Constitution, the marketplace is not supposed to be regulated by the government at all. You fail. Try again.

I disagree on the metaphor for "marketplace of ideas" - it swings closer to populism than a more rational meritocracy, plus merketplaces are also regulated by what and how they sell their products.
But I do agree that people do not have the right to not be offended.

Unfunny ranting fat white male hetero millionare high school graduate reading off a teleprompter about the college experience. Can I have my three minutes back please.
fuckinghellyoutwat (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
what has that got to do with the first amendment, you don't have to be qualified to have a well formed opinion, its ironic really because your mud slinging as opposed to a reasoned response to his arguments offends me, but as a part of a free society i recognize your right to say it.

Yup.>>> "Haha. Large, white, hetero and loud, and got his multimillion TV and Vegas contracts after hooking up with the ExxonMobil-funded Cato Institute. Who needs an education when you make millions mouthing propaganda swill off a teleprompter?">>> "But Penn is a large white man on television and so thinks his ignorant opinion equals fact.">>> "Penn Jillette barely graduated from high school. He has no direct knowledge of what is required for a serious academic environment."

Tell that to every person who wants a type of government that never existed or one they were never around to experience.
I want to live in a country that doesn't care about being politically correct or Bible-approved. I've only lived in one country though. |
