End of Evangelion is a revenge of the series creator. Fans didn't accept the original series ending and wrote letters, many... some of them were threads. Creator leave the the whole ava-story in deep shit killing the main characters, ripping apart unit 02 or turning the rest into LCL. The whole ending is some kind of: "let's don't watch the movie to the end, let's take some heroin, make a shit fuck this up and go to speel, nothing more.

well sort of she does die but at the end of the movie Ray is the final angel and brings Shinji and Asuka back to life. They are the only two left in the whole world. Some weird ending!!!! but everyone dies in the world first Ray kills the entire world.
