The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service estimates that the polar bear population is currently at 20,000 to 25,000 bears, up from as low as 5,000-10,000 bears in the 1950s and 1960s. A 2002 U.S. Geological Survey of wildlife in the Arctic Refuge Coastal Plain noted that the polar bear populations may now be near historic highs.

they said that the transalaska pipeline would disrupt caribou, & it has actually enhanced their lives so go figure. Drilling technology has actually improved to such a point that the spills are no longer a mitigating factor. enviro wackos ned to stop living int he past

hey the world does not end when species go extint life goes on nature abhores a vaccum and other thigns will fill in the gap. personally I will not loose one bit's sleep. I'm getting tired of seeing videos of bears swimming like it's a bad thing. they regularly have allways swum up to 80 miles to find food. don't believe the hype.

This is bullshit, it may be true that the ice is melting but that have happened several times before. Maybe we just entering a new warmer period in history. To blame humans for all the so called "global warming" is wrong, solar activity has a lot to do with it, and many other things as well, such as the earth's inclination or the magnetic points of the poles. And by the way, there are more polar bears today than 40 years ago. sorry for bad english.
