This clip was taken from "Faith & Reason" on PBS. Excerpt was read at the PEN American Center on April 26, 2006. This is the infamous passage that sparked off the book's controversy. Quick Update: Since I've been confused for both Jewish, and Muslim somehow, for the record: I'm actually agnostic.

China already tried that. Humans have some rather mind boggling idiocies that'll exist for quite some time. Even w/o religion we'll still be driven by a desire to create groups of us and them, whether the category is race, politics, sex, or whatever. I swear if we ever to manage to lose religion, we'll just splinter off into branches of atheists, and agnostics, and whenever there's a conflict use the "others" inherent "irrationality" to make them subhuman and nothing would've changed.

All religions are mindnumbing superstitions that should be stamped out.

I'm Korean American though I suppose some might label us Asian Jews, or something lol. In any case I believe he's still in Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Go do your duty.

The full quote is "For boys like Battuta, white women -- never mind fat, Jewish, non-deferential white women -- were for fucking and throwing over. What exactly are you trying to say about Rushdie? You find one of his misogynistic characters offensive?

How? He's not Muslim. And only Muslims would be offended by the book
