Twycross, ...And YOU are the only uninformed person (and white supremists of course) who would even call indentured servitude "slavery" when their is NO valid comparison to the forced enslavement of Africans whatsoever. Is it your white guilt that causes you to make such ridiculous pronouncements? If indentured servitude was indeed "slavery" (LOL) then convicted prisoners working a chain gang (for a set time) to pay off their debt to society should now be called "slaves" right? ...How pathetic.

Either disagree with my detailed and factual synopsis on what white indentured servitude was (and look foolish and uneducated) or explain to me how you can even make a correlation between the forced lifetime enslavement and the proper restitution required by white debtors, people who wanted to immigrate and prisoners allowed to work off their debts. What you are discribing as indentured servitude is the ideal version of it. In reality even though the term was 7 years, say the worker broke a plow, oh well they have to work that off for another year, So another year is added on. People abused this often which meant in most cases indentured servitude was slavery. Slavery is slavery, i'm not going to put blacks on a pedastool just because difference races were involved.

Terms of an indenture were enforceable in the courts, and runaway servants could be compelled to return to their masters and complete their service, with additional periods added for the time they had been absent. Now Twycross... how does any of this even compare to black SLAVERY. ...and NO... White (on white) Indentured servitude was NOT "slavery" by any stretch of the imagination.
