The catch isn't that amazing but the results of it are. This catch literally ended the Cowboys reign in the NFC and started a new dynasty, the 1980's 49ers. The Cowboys would not go back to the big game for another decade.

The end of the Dallas dynasty, the beginning of the 49ers great run during the 80's. I remember watching the game when I lived in Marquette, Michigan in my freezing cold apartment.

I know of quite a few teams that have been horrible for lengthy periods of time, including the 80s/early 90s Tampa Bay Bucs (before they got rid of their creamsicle orange uniforms), the Indianapolis Colts before the Manning Era, and the Cincinnati Bengals since 1990.

I'm not a New York Giants fan(I'm a New England Patriots fan), but I like "The Catch(Manning, to Tyree, on 3rd & 5 with 1:15 left in the 4th quarter in Super Bowl XLII)," more than this "The Catch(Montana, to Clark, in the 1981 NFC Championship Game)." |
