Pfft... IQ is NOT equal to intelligence.
Carlco (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
the title is smartest 'mathematician' not smartest man ever, so stop arguing like you have a combined iq of less than 100
MartialArtistWannabe (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
That's a stretch. I don't get what makes you say that. And what I've heard is that Langan chose not to go to school, thinking he was too smart. You're overestimating Langan based on something as trivial as his IQ score...Einstein was said to be at 160. Many people who have an IQ greater than Einstein haven't done nearly as much as Einstein in their respective fields.
csfreak89 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
thats because langan does not have a chance to go school. imagine if he went to school and worked as hard as einstein. he will acheive more then other genuises in the past

Even if this guy has an insignificant IQ...what does that have to do with his amazing skill in math...? Does a low IQ somehow negate that fact? Can Langan even compare? No. Therefore, IQ score just shows that you did good on a test and nothing more.
MartialArtistWannabe (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
You can't compare the likes Einstein, Hawking, Fermi, Maxwell, or Priestly against each other in terms of intelligence. What matters is not the score they get on an IQ test, but the amount of determination they have and hard work they put in. Langan doesn't compare to any of them...mostly because he does not excel in any particular field. He simply hasn't LEARNED anything necessary to excel...all he could do is repackage old philosophy and make it sound fancy.
MartialArtistWannabe (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
All it proves is that you did good on a test. If anything, it proves you have a lot of brain capacity...it doesn't give you a measurement of how intelligent you are. Since you're talking about the smartest guy in the world, I'm guessing you're a Langan dickrider. Langan wouldn't count as an intellectual...he's just good with the English language. His CTMU is a joke...
PCoderch (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Yes it does. It proves that you are highly intelligent.
MartialArtistWannabe (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Having a high IQ proves nothing.
PCoderch (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
This guys is freakin' smart, but he's not the smartest in the World. His intelligence suggest an I.Q higher 160, but still no higher than 189. Maybe around 170.
