Using the near hand (left) seems like a more likely entrance. You could get the same effect. I don't think I'd want to bother going for the hammer or the gun when moving the wrist will change the aim even more, with less chance of getting hit with a cycling slide. There are several guns on the market now that have no exposed hammer. As for running, it may not always be an option. If the attacker is more interested in raping your wife or killing you, what are you gonna do?

The bigger problem is that people are learning the technique, they should be learning the SKILL. Eg. The technique is disarming the gun but the skill is reacting to the situation. Bruce Lee talks about how many people want to learn the technique but technique without skill is useless. In krav maga they put u under that sort of pressure and fear. This skill vs technique dilemma applies to all learned things. In magic people wanna learn the trick but they dont have the skill ete etc

i completely agree. i am a martial artist who has practiced gun defense. when i was held up at gunpoint i had to make desicion...i can try to disarm this guy or just give him the 14 dollars in my pocket...i decided the $150 a month tuition was not worth my life and gave him the cash. even the most trained martial artist will shit their pants when it comes to it. |
