Well, not really "who cares". This disease is bad of course. But simply using condoms greatly reduces the chance of infections. The fact that gays more often are infected with HIV is due to the higher risk of getting in contact with sperm, since both partners are male. In a heterosexual relationship the man has a lower risk. Lesbian couples have the lowest risk. Tho that doesnt mean that heterosexual men or lesbians couldnt get hiv of course. But that has nothing to do with gay sex being 'evil'.
