rite on man!! wat a way to put it!
we should just appreciate the vid and song for wat it is to us, not wat we think the artist is trying to sing about. we all have opinions! :) xhx

I just had to laugh that people are still arguing over the meaning of this song, we can all look at it from different angles, some of us from a few different angles at the same time, we will all have our own personal perspective of this. Ive heard everything from this is about recovering from heroin addiction to justin apologising to his mum for killing his brother!lol

lol we can go around all day. The song means whatever it means to whoever is listening, and I guess that's part of the beauty of it...

Good point, but i'm talking about the words to the song. I can go line by line and show how each one is unique to addicts, not mental illness. Many people with mental illness self-medicate with drugs as well...i know a couple. Also, you seem to ignore "In a 12 Step Program, one of the steps is admit, apologize, and confront the people that you hurt." But I digress.

It appears your recovering addiction, I'm assuming from your statement let me know if I'm wrong, has lead you to focus on that part of his problem and song. You relate to it, which is cool. I'm just saying its not the reason for the song. The song is not about drug addiction, the song is about apologizing for hurting the ones you love. If you want a song ABOUT drug addiction look at something like comfortably numb by pink floyd or cold turkey by john lennon

arguing over youtube is not usually my deal, but you don't suppose it had anything to do with...ooh.. his bipolar disorder do you? Suicidal tendencies and all that can cause a bad day. Drugs were PART of his rough time.
I mean from the exact interview you told me to read:
"There were so many issues that I had to go through, like drug addition, that my Mom had to go through with me and all that stuffthere were really some awful times."
note the words MANY ISSUES

Of course, you're welcome to take it however you like. The fact is that drugs were not a part of that rough time, they were the REASON for that rough time. Google the interview he gave with Musicpix and they discuss it. He talks only about his addiction and the pain it caused his mother as the reason for the song. Honestly, if you're not a recovering addict, I would hope that you wouldn't understand the deeper meaning behind each of the lines.

Sorry to say you are mistaken alien. While one of themes or reasons why he is apologizing is his previous drug abuse, it is not the main subject of the song. If you look online you will find quite a lot of comments by Justin saying that this song is about his apology to his loved ones and ,more importantly, his mother for dragging her along through all the rough times he had. Drugs were part of that rough time, but they were not his only problem.
