Oh my gosh. I hate this song so much. We have to sing it in my high school choir and we had to try and learn the notes on our own and our teacher just about rips our heads out because we don't know it...

I think one can debate about the D. As someone above commented, the musica ficta in these particular cases is always a topic of discussion since it's hard to know how it was intended. That is why it's called musica ficta in the first place - it was things one didn't notate back then, still, everybody knew where these notes were to be inserted. Hence, it's not *necessary* here - even though ending thirds often were major (Picardy third). This became a commonly used device in the 17th century.

my choir is singing this piece - this recording sure is an inspiration.
i rather like the lower key of Eb minor, its much easier to sing. additionally, the key of F minor was pretty arbitrarily chosen by the publisher, i think.
also to singingsox i think many of those accidentals are also up for debate (something called musica ficta?)
i think the slow tempo is great, especially with the contrast when it goes to three.

They sang it in Eb minor. Yuck. Too low for my tastes. But, it was beautiful, I would just personally have preferred to sing it in the normal key. =P
You forgot the natural in the alto part at 2:18. It's a D natural not a Db.
