It's a sad truth. The media is sending a message to the public that goes "if you do this, you'll be famous. People will worship you, love and cherish you". I'm sure that Heath was a good man. But just like Montel I didn't know him. And I can understand that he was an icon and all that but it sad and discusting how the media is using that material in order to make better ratings. It's sick

i agree with montel..the media reports about celebs way too much and we never know whats going on with our troops...you never hear about the deaths over in iraq but if britney spears shaves her head then its breaing news.

I mean he hosted one of those "Maury Povich" type talk shows that were ALL about sensationalism for ratings. I don't think he's justified in pointing the finger at Fox News for that.

I think this is a bit ridiculous. Montel wants to talk about the war doesn't mean that Fox had to on that morning show. You can't just keep reading off names of dead soldiers and how they were mutilated, lets be realistic. Plus if anyone is lecturing about the avaricious nature of the need for TV ratings, it shouldn't be Montel. I mean really did anyone ever watch his TV show.

What sickens me is how Fox played Heath Ledger clips and the bulletin at the bottom to distract viewers from Montel's message. Not that I don't express my condolences for the departed, but the media rather discuss somebody who overdosed on sleeping pills over a soldier who was blown to pieces and will never have a proper funeral. Way to go Fox news, you show how much of a disease spreading prostitute you are every time you broadcast the "interesting topics" for ratings.
