Saw this during The Tonight Show - it's not featured on the Panasonic web site yet, but it features the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 (or, the "Tizzy" as it's called) digital camera and optical image stabilization.

Coolness13 - it sounds like your camera is defective (broken). You should seek warranty service if it continues. That's definitely not normal for this camera.

You can probably get an old stop-motion speed camera for that much. Digital - more then 5fps is asking a lot. Since the human eye/brain can't really derive motion past 30fps, the only reason you'd "need" a 300fps camera is to stop the motion of something that is moving faster than the eye can see, like a bullet or a droplet of milk.

I love my TZ1 - what I really need is a camera that could take 300 frames per second with a price tag of +/-$400.

Mine too! I'm looking forward to reviews of the upcoming/new TZ3 (the TZ2 is also forthcoming) to see if it's a worthy upgrade. It looks like it'll just be an improved TZ1, with better image quality at higher ISO ranges, and a widescreen 28mm aspect ratio (rather than the ~35mm equiv. of the TZ1). Of course, you lose a little zoom in the upper range to make room for the widescreen, but I think it's probably worth it to get more image in each frame.
