first you need a little bit of speed, and a section steep enough to do it, you should come off the bottom at around a 45 degree angle, visualize the spot you want your board, place it there with a slight pop, and then put most of your weight on your front foot and come down with it.

anyone have sum advice to do a floater w/ longboards????
i cant do off the lip but i nevver am able to do a floater! :(

interesting how much you can learn by watching pros surf. My instructor used to tell me to stand near the middle of the board, but watching this guys I can see they stand a bit to the back. I started doing that and like magic I could turn my board tighter. my instructor also taught me to grab the rails when popping up, later learned that's a bad idea.
