the vocals are completely different, and the guitar style is too. It's not supposed to be Tom Petty. I personally think this version is better, but that's just because I like John Mayer more than Tom Petty.

It is a good rendition but you can't beat the original, simply because if there wasn't the original there wouldn't be this version. But yes it is VERY nicely done.
