this song is about her first love who had cancer. he lost his hair and his strength (like the biblical character) and could only eat bread and go back to bed because of the chemo. they couldnt bring the colums down meaning they didnt get to do the things they wanted, they didnt have the time. (this is my favorite interpretation i have no idea if its tru)

After a lot of further research I am going to say we will not know until Regina does an interview and answers because there are so many saying it is about a dog and so many saying its about samson and dellilah. And I have not been able to find a credible source yet. - withdraw my earlier comment and hope regina answers this one soon!

This song is not about Samson and Delilah. If you listen carefully the song is about her dog. There are so many contradictions to the bible story including 'the bible didn't mention us' I think she has cleverly tied into the song that her dog is named after the bible Samson. One of my favorite songs.
