It was essentially a monster movie, like the beast from 20000 fathoms or the giant claw, a one off, which on it's own was an enjoyable movie, but not a godzilla movie. To use a phrase from James Rolfe 'Tristar Raped the Name'. It wasn't Godzilla and caused people to think that Zilla was the true godzilla which it wasn't and isn't
