Mai Yamane did the vocals, as far as I'm aware. The Seatbelts performed the song, and Yoko Kanno composed it.

I watched "Cowboy Beebop" a while back, when I was between jobs. Liked the show, but thought that the ending music was AWESOME. Then I read the lyrics. The metaphores are too mixed--desert in one sentence, pond in another. They also didn't track the show. So...since I had a LOT of time on my hands, I gave 'em a little tweak. Results appear below. I used "break" at the end of a line because I didn't know if this comment poster would retain my formatting or not. Comments?

Although the sand that's gone down through your hands //break//
Has worn away most of our love's memory, //break//
I can still stand upon this desert land //break//
That's all that's left of what our love used to be. //break//
Although the rose that grows through winter snows //break//
Lies lonely now upon the stone of my grave, //break//
I can still fly so high above the sky //break//
Remembering the life, my love's, that I save. //break

Somebody cry for me my eyes, they have gone dry //break//
The real folk blues //break//
How could I know //break/
How dear the price that I would one day have to pay? //break//
This desert sand between my bones //break//
Really doesn't feel so bad //break//
Long as I know //break//
I'll be free some day. |
