In 1960 Joe Kitinger jumped from a specialised hot air balloon at 100, 000 feet. (approx 20 miles), he fell to Earth at the speed of sound but had no sensation of his speed and felt like he was suspended above the Earth.

the balloon came back to earth, the gondola is in the air force museum. they didn't have live streaming back then it was shot on film.
